I don't know much about chicken genetics, but I want to learn. What are some examples of dominant and recessive traits? I know some of the basic ones (pea comb is dominant to single comb, etc.), but would love to know a larger list.

Thanks!

There's both dominant and recessive white. Usually dominant white replaces black, whereas recessive white turns a whole bird white regardless of any other genes they carry.

Mottling, chocolate, and lavender (self-blue) are examples of recessive colors. Silkied feathering, like on Silkies, is a recessive trait.

Dominant traits can include 5th toe, rumplessness, beard/muffs, tufts, frizzling, crests, the blue color, and feathered legs. (not including stubs on the shanks, which that alone can be recessive.)
