I wanna cut a bunch of silver and red 'flash tape' (the stuff that is strung up to keep birds from eating sown seeds etc.) into streamers and hang them from strung fishing line. But i can't see that motion and flashing from above NOT also scaring the chooks..............

anyone use this stuff or the like.........?

I think the chickens probably get used to them. It's the reflection that is supposed to scare the hawks.

mine are used to it, I have anti bird net over the pens. you can get a 15' x45' roll at home depo for $19. the flash tape is so I don't have to remove a hawk tangled in the net

Like looking down into an array of jittering flashbulbs (have stood on our roof and checked out the effect).

The one's in this thread can also be mounted on poles (short sections of wire/whacker thread/ballpoint pen springs over nails/etc.): https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=44145
