Door size for chicken door on coop.

This may sound like a dumb question, but we are looking into buying an automatice chicken door for our coop. Our current door opening is 11.5 x 11.5 inches. Our girls are not full sized yet, so have no problem getting in and out. I have Black Australorps, Easter Eggers, and a Swedish Flower Hen. The automatic coop door has an opening of 9 3/8 by 10.5. Is this large enough for full size birds?

Yes, plenty large enough for those chickens. I've had full sized fowl use an opening to a nest that was 6" high and 8" wide.

We have a 12x12, just because they can fit doesn’t mean that the best size , if you ever want Brahmas if bigger breeds you might not like it ... just saying . We just got ducks and had to open it up to a bigger door

Thanks for the input. Maybe I will leave it as it is. I can always open and close it myself.
