Hey - just a quick question about how much dewormer I should give my chicken - I found lots of info on how much to give for goat dewormer, but I have the equine dewormer. I know it won't be alot, but I'm not sure of the exact amount.
It's Safe-guard (febendazole) paste 10%, 100 mg/g (hopefully that makes a bit of sense to someone; I'm new to the whole worming thing). Also, are different dosages given to chickens who are worm-infested and ones that are (or at least appear to be) normal?

.25 ml of paste per pound of bird.

So if you have a 6 pound bird give 1.50 ml of paste once a day for 5 consecutive days.
Treat the entire flock at the same time.

X2

And just FYI, there is no difference in the dosage amounts between the goat dewormer and the horse paste... key words are the ingredients and amount, all of it is *fenbendazole 10%, 100mg/g*... :D

Oh ... haha! I thought the horse dewormer would be stronger or something - but I guess that doesn't actually make any sense since both have 10%. Good to know! Thanks!

I have one that is very weak and underweight probably only a pound or 2 and 5.5 months old... Can i use the equine dewormer still? 0.25ml paste for 5 days?

Yes BUT....did you have her poop checked by a vet for worm loads?

I will be checking it in the morning when i get to work... im a veterinary technician for horses.
She is isolated in my house with feed, yogurt, water with vit, electrolytes and ACV. I have been treating her for a resp infection she caught from her best friend. Best friend is fine now and back with flock...
Just trying to save my sick girl before she passes. She is literally skin and bones but eats everything in front of her and drinking so well.
