Duck hatched with eyes closed! They are still closed

Hey all! I need some help, my Muscovy duckling hatched with his eyes closed it’s been 17 hours since it hatch in the eyes are still closed.

Let me give you some background. I had to assist in the hatching as the duckling severely was shrink, wrapped I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it. I have read some of the forums where they say to try and gently clean the eye off with a moist cloth. I’ve done that and the eyes are still shut. Is there anything else I can do?

I was told to put this lossly around it’s neck since it can’t hold its head up either. It can’t stand straight it’s been laying on its side like this. I gave it a few drops of nutridrench (undiluted) and sugar water

It’s breathing and chirping and moving around. It just can’t stand, open its eyes, or keep head up

Assisted hatches can take longer to recover from So happy to see it up and looking around
