Hello and thanks for whoever can help me with this question. A bit of background first, I have hatched ducks before in an incubator and I learned all of that fun jazz but now I have introduced a male into my small flock of girls, and I finally have my own eggs to incubate. Since it is freezing cold here, I decided it wasn't a great idea to let my ducks sit on the eggs, also because they don't seem very broody. If I hatch these ducklings, will the parents know at all that they are their baby ducks at all or will they just think "Oh new additions!"??? Also, these ducklings are either going to be full blood Khaki Campbell or an Indian Runner x Khaki Campbell mix... does anyone know what a duck would look like if you crossed a Khaki Campbell with a black Indian Runner duck?

Hi and :welcome !

No, the ducklings will not be recognized as 'family' and will be seen as strangers. Once they are fully feathered, they will need to be introduced the same as any strangers. Do not try to introduce before then as they will be attacked and likely injured or even killed.

As for colour, black is dominant so the mixed ducklings will be black.

Hope that helps!

I incubate ducks early every year my duck lay about 120 eggs a year and so many were going to waste even after filling the fridge for Omelets duck eggs are better tasting than chicken eggs so I put all the rest in incubators we got 46 ducklings 2 years ago and the parents have no attraction to them they have no idea they are theirs. But when its warm enough for the ducklings to be out side I have put a hen in with them in the brood cage and she adopted them all from all four of my hens.
