What have you found to be the best yet inexpensive roofing material for weatherproofing the duck run? Also how have you found to be the best way to secure it? If you have pics, please share to help envision what you describe. Thank you.

Geeze, I was hoping someone else would answer you but nobody has I see. If you could give some idea of what your pen looks like it would help. There are many things available but it's hard when you don't know how big the pen is or what it's made from etc. A picture would be good so we can see how much area you are talking about.

There is tin, plywood, shingle, some use tarps, corrugated heavy plastic sheets

Our run needs some work. We're going to rebuild it a bit and make it bigger before the young ones get mixed in.

We use tarps in the winter to keep out wind and rain but we are in a pretty mild climate. The ducks also have access to their coop and a little dog house that they like to sleep in during the day.
Currently building a new run and plan to cover at least half of the run with metal roofing at some point. Also planning on making removable panels for the sides (wood frames covered with thick plastic) that we can put up in the winter.

We have new babies too so it was time to start building something a little bigger.
Our setup now isn't anything fancy, we leave it all open in the summer and cover everything except their pool deck in the winter. If we have some nice days we can pull the tarp back and easily covered back up when it's cold. I dont have any pics of it all covered because its ugly, lol.

They mostly hang out by the pool anyway.
New build will be better so I don't hit my head so much, building off of this pic (not ours)...

You should be able to cover yours pretty easily with a tarp as long as they have enough ventilation.

I did a cattle panel run on my chicken coop. I then took 1/2" pvc and zip tied it to the run. I use greenhouse pvc clips to secure plastic to it. I can raise or lower the sides as needed to keep snow out.

A pic in case it helps any. When expanded I think you can see the pvc pieces.

You guys are amazing dealing with all that snow. I can't even imagine! I get upset when I have to open the barn to turn the water off because we're getting a hard freeze!

That was this November. It took FOREVER to melt. That coop has my feather footed and bantam birds. They appreciate it staying dry. ;)
