I was headed towards the chicken house to pick eggs when I noticed that one of my muscovy girls was rushing out of the chicken house holding AN EGG between her bill!! I was in total shock as I shouted, "What are you doing??!!!". She immediately dropped the egg and ran away. Of course when she dropped the egg (chicken egg) the egg broke.

So now, I am in total shock and confused that a duck (MY duck) has been stealing eggs and taking the eggs who knows where. Has anyone ever experienced an egg stealing duck and the duck walking away with the egg between it's bill?????? I would have NEVER in a million years thought that ducks steal eggs that way. So now I have a thief on my hands.

LOL@ my ducks heard that I am not letting them sit on eggs. If anyone would know the reason, I knew that you would know Miss Lydia. LOL

And you are probably right. LOL

I've heard of ganders going out and collecting eggs and bringing them to his mate to add to her nest. So it is very possible that your Muscovy has a nest somewhere and wants a large hatch.

You have to admit, it makes a great story.

ROTFL!
That is awesome. I think you have one smart duck! Or crazy one....not sure which way you want to look at it.
You know, I had thought I was seeing things before with my ducks and eggs but every time I head down to the barn I can't find a duck carrying an egg so i thought it was my imagination or bad eye sight. By golly, from now on I am attaching the zoom lens and photographing what I think I see!

I didn't know that about ganders. Thanks for sharing that information.

And yes, it is quite a story. :D

LOL @ attaching the zoom lens. That's a great idea. If you get a pic, PLEASE post to include your story. We would love to hear the juicy details.
