Ducklings have quite a lot of clear fluid coming from nose and mouth. Is this normal?

Today 2 of my 5 ducklings spat/snorted quite a bit of fluid (I couldn’t quite see where it came from) when I picked them up to clean out the pen. That’s the only time I’ve noticed anything like that. Then I put the ducks back and the same two did it again but this time I saw it come from the bigger ones mouth. Could this just be stress from being picked up? They’re eating and drinking and otherwise behaving normally so just wondering if this is normal behaviour. They have constant access to food and water deep enough for their heads and I clean them out 3 times a day. Thanks :)

My pekin did this when duckling , so
Supposedly if they just went for a swim or ate and you pick up the kind of just throw up a bit, looks like drooling, clear liquid ? Mine did the same they said because they store food and water in their chest area so when they carried it can come up , but that’s my experience !

Thanks for your reply! Yes I thought that might be the case, it looked like drool, was very thin anyway. It hasn’t happened since so perhaps I just grabbed them before the water had a chance to fully go down! :)

I was picking up my duckling and this just happened to me. I thought something was wrong. I came here and my worry was answered. I am learning a lot about my ducks. Thank you for your question and answers
