Our ducks n chickens were housed together when they were young, the ducks really attached themselves to the chooks and are still attached to them.
The amount of cleaning required was huge as the ducks make such a soggy mess and all the eggs, ducks and chicken, were dirty.
We got a separate house for the chickens and a run in which they stay whilst we are at work and get out to run around at night. The ducks free range all day.
When we feed treats we try to feed the chickens in their run and the ducks somewhere in the garden as the ducks will push the chickens out of the way and eat all their treat as well as their own. They’ve even been known to push our hands out of the way if we’ve tried to feed the chickens treats by hand. From what I can see, ducks are the labradors of the poultry world.
