Would a predator take more than one duck in a night?
I went out of town and asked a neighbor to care for my three ducks. They're allowed to roam the yard during the day and then they get locked up in their house at night. My neighbor let them out yesterday morning and then forgot to lock them up last night. When I got home late last night they were nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere and all through the neighborhood for over an hour last night.
This morning I searched again and found a bunch of feathers in the next door neighbor's backyard, with a little old blood on them. :'( So my magpie duck is most likely dead. But I also have two khaki Campbells. I found a few wing feathers from them next to the white and black feathers. But I'm not sure about anything else.
I haven't had a predator attack in about 20 years (different home) but when that one happened only one duck was taken and we could still find the others.
We have a very small stand of woods nearby. There was an opposum lurking around the yard several weeks ago and I've seen racoon tracks in the past.
Would a predator be able to take all three ducks at once? I couldn't find any feathers anywhere else but that one spot. Is there any hope of finding any alive at this point?
