I started to put this in the random rambling but I figured we would end up with recipes here so I am starting it in the recipe section.

Duke's Mayonnaise - the secret of great southern cooks!

So - here's the deal -

Back in Ga there were plenty of sales when Duke's would be priced at .50 cents a quart at great stores like Bi-Lo, Piggly Wiggly and even Walmart.

No. Va. will never see those prices. When we first moved up to the area Duke's was over $5 a quart. I would have my mother send me boxes of it because it was too expensive to buy.

Now we are in Central Va and the prices flunctuate but there is never a really good sale price. It just isn't a leader product up here even though it is made in Richmond.

The lowest I have paid is $2.12 a quart.

Lately when I find it in the gallons I buy those - $9 a pop - which is about $2.25 a quart.

I long for the days of 50 cent quarts.

If you come to my house I always have extra jars in my pantry.

Do you hoard Duke's?

How many jars do you keep on hand?

What do you pay in your area for a quart?

Nosey Neighbors want to know!

Don't pay the shipping if you don't have too. Use the store finder on the Duke's website. Maybe somewhere close to you has it.

the shipping is included in the price....the closest stores would be WAY more in gasoline! good tip though!

i am going to see if any of my local stores will order it for me for the future!

Sorry Miss Prissy, I've never heard of Duke's here in the Louisville and Northern area of KY either. I did look at the store locator and there is a market with the same name in Carrollton Ky (about 38 mi away) that may carry it. Right now Helman's is our best bet.
