Hey so I noticed my rabbit has a mild case of ear mites in his left ear. I did some research on what to put in it to get rid of them. I was wondering what I should do in terms of cleaning his stuff. I used a diluted bleach mixture on his indoor crate and bowls and rinsed very well. I plan to do the same with his outdoor hutch today and i put all his toys in the freezer and washed his blankets and removed his bedding. What else can I do to be sure all mites are gone for food and dont come back? Where could they have come from? Any tips about dealing with ear mites?

Any of the ear mite medicines for cats will work on rabbits. There is no telling where the things came from in the first place. You might want to treat the rabbit several times to be sure they are gone for good.

The best way to cure ear it's is with drops of olive oil or vegetable in the ears Avery day or every other day till they disappear I would just wash the feeders out everytime he eats to make sure hey mites aren't spreading

Ear mites are a pain to clear up. Ask a vet for some ear mite meds and clean the rabbits ears every day. If using ear mite medication make sure you check his ears for any bad reactions he may have. You could also see if the vet has some sort of topical medication that you put on the back of the neck like you do in cats. Never use flea and tick or mite medication you buy from a store. Most are made in other countries and are not safe for your pets. You also could go the route Laineybug suggested but you will have to be vigilant.

My first experience with rabbit ear mites was a rabbit very suddenly getting them horribly in just one ear. No idea where he got them from. I used cat ear mite treatment at the time because I didn't know any better. It did work, but I've learned since then that there's a high risk of harming the rabbit with that particular drug. It can be very toxic to them.

Later, my other rabbit at that time came down with ear mites around his genital area. I took him to the vet for treatment, where they confirmed that it was ear mites, just in an odd area. You should check your bunny for mites clustering anywhere else on his body. This rabbit was treated with three ivermectin injections, given two weeks apart. This is the safest and most effective way to treat them.
