Eating a dead chicken?

One of my family members wonders if it is okay to eat a dead chicken? Is that okay? Will it cause sickness to us?

It depends how it died... did it have trauma (break its neck, ect) or did it have a disease/illness? How long was it dead before being found?

Trauma - possibly eat
Illness - do not eat

how long has it been dead? if less than 3 hours you prosses it should be fine. but I am no expert, but my neighbors are Butcherers and they have eaten killed animals. but they are usually not as good as butcherd. hope this helps! and I am sorry for the loss of your chicken

It is 3 to 4 years old. I am not sure if it had disease /illness I can't tell. How can I tell if it was sick? I was there the second it died. I heard it knock the food tray down and I heard a few squacks but I am not sure if it was from my future dead chicken. Anyways, I rushed to its side to help it I thought it's leg had gotten hurt. But then I saw its eyes slowly closing and water coming out of its mouth. Then the chickens starting pecking at the water coming out of the mouth. Truly disgusting. I am so worried!

thank you! I threw it away recently, just to know for the future becayse I have 5 more chickens growing old as well

PS. What if the chicken froze to death? I have 5 pullets who just don't ever seem to want to sleep in their coop, staying outside and roosting in their run. Not sure it would get cold enough here... but if it froze to death?

When in doubt throw it out...

If you have to ask the anwser is no...

Basicly, no it's not safe it died for a reason and your safest guess is that reason is something was wrong.
