Eeeks roadrunners

Will they eat chickens? Big or small? I have seen them passing through my yard.

Hi mandy!

I definitely would not trust one around smaller chicks. Roadrunners are amazing predators and will eat just about any animal they can carry away--and they love small birds. I don't know if they'd try to go over a fence or not, they really don't like to fly unless necessary. Good luck!

If you only have road runners then chicken wire will stop them

Don't discourage the roadrunners. They will kill baby rattlesnakes.

Newly hatched chicks might be in some small danger, but a grown chicken is much too big to be prey for a roadrunner.

I heard my chickens raising cane today & looked outside & sure enough a roadrunner was running through my yard as well. I thought about him hurting my chickens but then thought no way my rooster could handle that bird.
