My year old lavender Orpington was acting strange this morning. Just standing alone and staring. She is usually right up in my business and never turns down food, but she didn’t even acknowledge me. Brought her in for a soak, felt around, massaged, and nothing happened. When I went back to clean my bathroom up, I noticed this where she was sitting. I grabbed a glove and inspected as far as she’d let me and didn’t feel anything shell or anything. She’s isolated in our cat crate with puppy pads under her. She’s pooped and looks like more liquidy stuff. We are currently treating rhe entire flock with Corid if that matters. This is the second round and today is day 4/5. Any suggestions??

Looks like she hasn't been eating enough. Can you offer her some yogurt with Vitamins B complex E and Alpha Lipoic Acid?
These are the ones I use

What is her normal diet? Has she had a full crop any of these past days?

Does she have a full or enlarged lower belly under her vent, more so than the other hens? If you feel that she may be eggbound, I would give her a human calcium citrate with D tablet about 600 mg instead of soaking her. Can you check her crop this evening, and again first thing in the morning to see if it has emptied before she eats or drinks. Why are you treating with Corid? Do you have chicks or younger birds showing signs of coccidiosis? B vitamins should not be used with Corid, but are okay once Corid is finished.

She eats Nutrena All Flock and gets scraps/treats plus gets some free range time. She was out foraging like normal last night. Can I do those vitamins while she’s being treated with Corid? Tomorrow is the last day of the round.

We had a younger pullet that was exhibiting symptoms of Corid, so we’ve been treating everyone. We’ve had a slew of health problems the last few weeks that we’ve never had 😭 I did massage her crop earlier just in case. It wasn’t hard and I didn’t smell anything that made me think sour crop. I will check again this evening. I’ve withheld food and water the last few hours just so I can observe. I haven’t noticed any unusual swelling in her belly/vent.

wait until the day after tomorrow to start the vitamins. 🥰 What scrapes are you feeding her? I would try to keep the treat/scrapes to once a month.

Ok, update! This is the poo we just got from her. Not the red thing. I think that’s just some stuff on the ground. Very little interest in drinking and eating.

With the jelly like mucus, it is probably reproductive. Does she usually lay eggs? Have you seen any soft eggs or thin shells recently? I would give a dose of calcium 600 mg or a Tums orally in case she is having trouble laying. Check her crop early each morning to see if it has emptied. Chickens crops are normally full in the early evenings after eating all day.

She has laid before. All of my girls have slowed down drastically the last few weeks (all are right at a year old). Her crop felt squishy earlier and she hasn’t eaten in over 24hrs. I have Noticed what looks like just yolk in the next boxes but honestly attributed it to somebody pecking/eating them before I got to them. Now I’m not so sure. If it’s reproductive, is there anything we can do for her? We offered a tums a little bit ago and she seemed interested but didn’t eat it. She is usually all about some food.

You have to break the Tums in half, and just open her beak to swallow it. I would recheck her crop daily in early morning to see if it has emptied. If they are suffering reproductive disorders, they may feel poorly and have no appetite. Some may lay a soft egg and then feel better for a period of time. I would try to tempt her to eat. If she has not been wormed recently, I would also do that.
