I'm always looking for threads where I can see the difference in color and size of eggs but I end up hopping a million threads. I think it would be nice to have a mixed carton thread. Hopefully people will participate. If you have multiple breeds of chickens please line up your eggs in good lighting and snap a pic and then label the eggs in the picture if you are absolutely sure you know which chicken your egg came from. Please let us know if your birds are hatchery/feed store or breeder quality and also list the breeds if you use abbreviations to label the eggs like I did. If you have an Easter Egger, Olive Egger or any other mixed breed and know what cross they are please let us know that as well. Please also specify color or your chicken for breeds that come in different varieties like Marans since that can determine egg color as well. For example a black copper marans will probably have a darker egg than a blue/splash so please let us know which marans you have.

Here is my example pics. I only have 2 layers right now but I'll post an updated pic when my other 2 pullets are laying.

Hatchery/Feed store chickens
Breeds: Black Sex Link and Production Rhode Island Red.

These eggs are all from my red sex link. She has been laying for about a month now and always lays very small eggs.

Breeder
Red Sex Link.

Wow what a variety in shades from one chicken. Very pretty eggs, which is the most recent, lighter or darker? Both of my girls got darker during their first week but their color has remained unchanged since.

Cant remember what order they where in. I took this pic a couple weeks ago.

Here is an egg she just laid.

Easter Egger's first egg and a Red Sex Link egg.

Eggs from the same Easter Egger. Her eggs change colors sometimes.

Two different RSL's eggs and the EE's eggs.

Lightest egg is from our Australorp. Maybe. The rest are all from four different RSLs.

EE and RSL eggs.

Silkie and EE egg.

RSL and Silkie egg.

The pinkish eggs are from my Barred Rock. Pale eggs are from the Australorp. Green from EE. Darker ones from 4 different RSLs. The tiny one in the oval container is the silkie egg- which I just ate today.. yum!

Here's an egg from (I believe) each of my egg-layers (not including the silkie).

From left to right:
-Laurel the Australorp (her eggs are the palest)
-Lotus the Easter Egger (obviously her eggs are the only teal ones)
-Berzillia the Barred Rock (the newest layer 'sides the silkie- her eggs are almost pink)
-The Red Sex Links (they vary in color so I assume these are each from a different girl- definitely from RSLs though)

Amazing! Thanks so much! Beautiful eggs from all your girls. I always wondered if EEs always laid the same color eggs. That answers my question. I can't wait to see what mine will come up with. She's 24 weeks, still nuthin.

You're welcome! Actually, EE's eggs are SUPPOSED to stay the same, but the shade sometimes varies... Lotus's eggs a lot of times will come out blue-ish, but when I touch them they turn green where my fingers touch.. it's so weird! Like, warmth changes the color. It's something I wish I knew the science of!

Here's a new picture!

The left two are from my silkie hen, Gracey, and the right two are from Lotus the Easter Egger. :)

I think my EE laid for the first time yesterday. I found a cream egg in the grass. It was pretty large for a first pullet egg though but I only have 4 chickens and the Welsummer should lay dark brown or speckled, the other 2 are already laying their medium brown eggs. So unless one of my brown layers laid 2 eggs yesterday one being a light cream color than I have to assume it was from my EE. I was really hoping for blue or green but it's still a pretty egg.
