Hi it is currently day 21 and time for the eggs to hatch. One of my eggs have popped through the night and when I got up in the morning I had seen the bird open its beak but since then their has been no progress nor has their been any sound or sign of life. It is now 6:30pm so the chick must've popped over 15 hours ago should I help or is she/he dead already because theirs no signs of life?

She/he should be fine... Give it a day or two then you can help... how big is the pip? It's mostly likely getting ready to pop out of that shell!

Hi thanks for the quick response, the pip is actually fairly big it's just I've been worried because theirs not been any sound or movement as far as I'm aware. I would also like to say that the humidity is at a constant 71% and the temp is perfect.

Thats great! can you see the beak? if you can you would be able to tell if its breathing or not... She/he will most likely be out by tomorrow if it's a big enough pip...You AND the bird should be fine by then ;)

I have the same situation as Jaysquails. I checked on my momma duck this a.m. (6:00) and found one egg had an External Pip. Since then, no movement or sound and its almost been 12 hours. this is the first of 6. (really 5 because one didn't take). Also, it doesn't look like a beak. It looks like a foot. And it is sticking out of the hole little over 1/8" and is not moving even when giving a very light press. I know the first question is...did it pip thru the air sake and i don't know. i didn't mark it. my first time.. please assist
