My ladies are 15 weeks old, some are starting to get some red on their faces, but no one is squatting or laying yet (not surprised). BUT just now someone started to sing the egg song!! I was just wondering if anyone else experienced pullets that have not started laying yet, singing songs of future eggs?

You might better look around really good.

If I recall correctly, mine started singing egg songs a few days before starting to lay, while they were going in an out of the nest boxes, rearranging the hemp bedding, and generally playing house. Once they started laying, they don’t sing it at all, although sometimes they talk to themselves while laying. Go figure!

Interesting!! I just opened up the nesting boxes a few days ago. They tossed all the shavings everywhere but I have been at work and haven't seen of they were playing in the boxes or just trashing them from the outside. I'll probably spend my next few days off not doing real things and just observing chicken behavior. 🤓

This is a big part of what I call chicken therapy. I highly recommend it!
