So after closer inspection my silkie seems to have a broken leg bone, which is sticking out of her skin. It's broken just under her first "knee" and the knee is swollen. Will I have to put her down? Should I splint it? What do I do? She's 4 days old. It's been broken for a few days... Doesn't look infected and she's eating and drinking.

The bone is just above her elbow, sticking out of the skin. I can't move it back in. The injury is a few days old. Is it too far gone? How can I help her? How exactly should I splint it

She can't bear wright on her foot but can move her leg. She barely grasps my finger with her toes.

If you want to try to splint it you will have to put it in a neutral position with the bone back in and then wrap it with two supports, one on each side (sticks or something of similar dimensions to the leg). The bone will have to be forced back into place.

The biggest worry in this situation is bacterial infection and sepsis! In this situation if you want to give her any chance you need to bring back the bone ti it natural position, wash the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap, disinfect the area with Iodine, spread generously ,antibiotic ointment on the wound, after this you need to fixate the bone and you need to give her a broad activity spectrum antibiotics like Baytril 5 injection or Baytril 10 in her water! You need to do it ASAP!

You could probably try to splint it. Make sure you keep it clean to avoid infection. I know its hard to think about but putting her down would probably be for the best
