Everyone died??!!

Sorry for your loss. That is really disappointing.

Let me suggest that you add your geographic location to your member icon. Knowing your location often helps others help you with better responses. For example, I live in northern Minnesota, and I expect my challenges and solutions might be quite different than someone living in southern California.

I have not been affected by the bird flu, but maybe you are in that zone?

It sounds like you have many problems going on all at the same time. I cannot wrap my head around all the issues you have posted. Have you considered just restarting with a small number of chickens, and working out the kinks?

FWIW, I use heat lamps in my brooder setup but have a remote thermometer reading the temps at all times. I still use the 95F for week one, 90F for week two, etc... It works for me. But the point is that I know the temp in my brooder all the time. My base unit inside the house reads out the temps in the brooder, and I can even set both high and low alarms and make adjustments if needed.

:idunno When things go so bad, maybe it's just best to scale down and concentrate on the fundamentals of heat, feed, and water. Assuming, of course, that you have not been hit by bird flu in your region. I have never had to deal with that. Good luck.
Thank you. I'm in Ohio btw and added my location to my account.

OK. Your location helps. I am not certain if you are personally affected by the bird flu, but I asked Microsoft Copilot AI if Ohio is in the affected bird flu zone. This is the response I got...

Yes, Ohio has been significantly affected by the ongoing bird flu outbreak. The state has experienced high levels of infections among commercial poultry, with millions of chickens impacted. This has led to substantial losses for farmers and has also affected egg production and prices.

I don't know if that helps you, but it might. From what I read in your previous posts on this thread, it appears that you have successfully raised poultry for some time. Things are certainly not normal for you now. Could you have been affected by the bird flu which has affected Ohio?

:idunno At the same time, I asked if my home state of Minnesota has been affected by the bird flu, and it has. Fortunately for me, I have seen no negative signs of disease and/or loss of my birds in my backyard.

Thank you for providing the feed explanation and set up. It sounds like the cause might be something out of the norm. I really hope it's not an illness for your sake but it would be best if you could get a necropsy. From what I understand, you need to place the body in a refrigerator, not freezer, until you can get it to a lab.

Have you talked to your surrounding community? Other flock keepers? Maybe others are having this same issue. I had also read Ohio was more affected by bird flu than other states due to the migratory patterns of waterfowl.

Never get birds from another person. Always buy from a trusted source like a tac n feed store or farm store whose birds come from vetted hatcheries. You can contaminate and kill all birds and dirt in your yard for years. Ask me how I know that.
