We were a little misled purchasing 3 chicks this year from a private seller since our local stores have been constantly sold out. We thought we were getting a Gold Laced Wyandotte (#1), an Australorp (#2) & a Maran (#3). Well come to find out, "dad" was a Freedom Ranger so we have a ragtag little group looking not much like we expected. That's ok, we still love them.
They are appx 4.5 weeks old if we were informed correctly of their hatch dates.
We know #3 is a roo. He's been practicing his crow for a week already and has major red comb & wattles. No question there. (I don't remember our first flocks roos crowing this young

I'd love anyone's thoughts on #1 & #2. I'm concerned that #1's wattles are starting to redden. S/he is the smallest of the bunch. I tried to get a picture from the back too but I don't feel experienced enough to tell based on the saddle feathers yet. We don't have enough hens to keep more than one rooster. To be honest, I'm not sure we have enough hens to keep even one rooster. We have 4 hens (2 years-old) that we will be integrating these newbies into.
