Experience sealing cracked egg with wax?

Hi there, just candled a clutch of eggs to start in my incubator and noticed one egg has three small hairline cracks at the wider base of the egg. The cracks are barely visible to the naked eye, and I can barely feel them when I run my finger over them. I haven’t loaded the eggs into the incubator yet and am wondering if the egg might still be viable if I melt a little wax over the cracks? I can’t seem to find any info on how successful this process would be BEFORE incubation has started. Anyone have experience with this?

I've tried wax many times, and I like nail polish much better now. I've saved countless eggs with it. I like to use natural nail polish, the piggy paint brand specifically is what I've used but any should work. Just paint a thin coat over the cracks and let it dry, and you should be set. I've never had any have a hard time hatching through it either. Wax is just too messy, it's hot and drips everywhere, which makes it almost impossible to keep it to the damaged parts of the egg. I've never had any eggs survive to hatch patched with wax. With the nail polish I don't hardly ever lose any.
Good luck!

Wow, thank you! I’ve been wanting to get this brand for my daughter actually. Now I guess it’ll be dual purpose! ;)

Upvote on nail polish—I actually used a quick-dry nail glue that had a brush applicator and it worked like a charm. I also wonder how liquid bandage would fare? That could be handy to have on hand.
