Anyone wanna chime in before I decide to use this 1% cottage cheese from the grocery store that expired on August 14th but has 0 signs of being spoiled, no smell, no mold, unopened until just now to examine it. I can't taste it, cottage cheese by itself is gross...I wouldn't know if it were bad based on taste.

Would you use it?

Cottage cheese and sour cream are good unless visible mold is present.
Hard cheese is good if you cut visible mold off plus about 1/8”

if it had already been opened and then expired---toss it for sure---otherwise if separation fluid is not white toss it

The cottage cheese is fine. All dairy is labeled to “expire” long before it actually will. As long as there is no rancid smell or visible mold, it’s perfectly fine. Our chickens get expired food all the time; just never anything rotten.
