Extension Cord Fan to Covered Run

Thoughts on running an extension cord from the house to the chicken run for a tall-standing industrial fan? We are going out of town this weekend and I won’t be able to do my typical trip to the coop to start their battery powered fan. Is it safe to run an extension cord out there to a fan? It stands about 4-5ft tall and the run is covered. I was going to place it outside the coop, facing in to blow through the window. We will also have a friend checking in them while we are gone

I had an extension cord running from the power in my dads building to my coop for a heat lamp and had zero problems.You’ll need one that is weatherproof though and obviously won’t shock the chickens if they touch it.

I run electric to my building from the garage with a heavy extension cord, My electric usage in my building is : 2 overhead fluorescent light fixtures (one in feed room, one in bird area) 2 fans, 1 is a 14” tsc exhaust fan on a thermostat control with a manual override & the other fan is a box fan on a timer pulling air in from the outside overnight through the 15” x 30” ventilation window. a bug light, a outside light on a timer and a cord for the heated waterer in winter. Ive not had any issues.

I have a construction/exterior grade extension cord that runs from my garage to the run. We drilled a hole in the garage wall* at the appropriate height and the receptacle end is up in the roof of the run, protected from the elements. I got one with a 3-plug receptacle. Worth every penny of the $40(IIRC) I paid.

*The hole had to be big enough for the plug end to go through, and then we blocked off the excess size with steel wool and boards fitted around the cord.

I LOVE that each plug has an on/off switch. Genius! I've never seen those before, where did you get it?
