Peanut clusters, rum fudge balls, baklava, and sugar cookies are on the dessert list this year along with pecan pie

huh… we don’t do much Christmas dessert baking…

Layers of sherry-soaked pound cake, spread with raspberry jam, topped with custard, whipped cream, and slivered almonds.
My Grannie makes the custard and whipped cream from scratch.

I started making fruitcake as a "new" Christmas tradition a few years ago. My husband likes fruitcake and will happily eat those loaves from the store with the dyed candied fruit in them. I absolutely don't like them at all! So, I created my own "fruitcake" recipe leaving out what I didn't like and changing the dyed fruit to real dried fruit and so on. I like it well enough and my husband is happy with it, so, a tradition was born!

We don't have a dessert tradition for Christmas. That's ok, because we will have lots of food and don't really need more.
