My nearly 6 week old French Black Copper Marans from Hoover's Hatchery has hardly any feathers on her legs/feet. Does this mean that she'll stay this way as she grows and ages? Or could she still develop a lot.
(I'm hoping it stays minimum since she's my 1st feathered feet girl and I live in rainy Seattle!)

I don’t see very many pin feathers growing so it looks like she may have minimal feathers on her legs. In comparison, here’s an ~4 week old brahma mix whose daddy is likely a feather legged blue copper maran. Lots of feathers and I haven’t decided if that’s an advantage or not for the environment they will be in. Those Michigan winters can be rough!

Oh what a cutie...and those legs!

Agree that it's not likely she'll get full feathered. I'd complain to Hoovers if she was not advertised as clean legged. My past babies at a few days have had more feathering.... This one is 3-4weeks....

I just looked on Hoover's website and they actually don't say that they either have clean or feathered legs!

I got her from the local feed store anyhow, and actually asked them to find the cleanest legged girl in there!

But it is interesting because she had more leg feathers when I 1st got her:

Unless their little legs and outside toes are covered in fuzz there is no guarantee they'll keep their feathered legs. The feather legged blue copper maran I mentioned before also fathered chicks from clean legged hens. While the majority are feather legged there were about 3 or so that hatched with fuzz on their legs but it seems to of fallen out and not returned.
