My flock is all on non-medicated chick feed due to two baby chicks hatching. Could this be a reason that a few hens seem to have poopy butts? I’m tired of washing chickens butts. Should I try a probiotic?

My first thought is to get a veterinarian to do a fecal test for worms.

A change in feed could be the problem but I'd expect treats like fresh greens to be more of a problem than chick feed. But you never know, it is possible. Probiotics won't hurt to try. I don't have any specific recommendations as to which probiotic.

Mine forage for a lot of their food. Sometimes a few will get runny, I think it is just certain plants they eat too much of. It usually corrects itself in a week or so.
