Would it be okay to only feed scratch grains to Muscovy ducks during the fall/winter times? Since they won't be laying eggs would it suffice? I have young juvenile Muscovy ducklings that I hatched from @Nyla 's eggs. I have a meal worm farm in my house so I'll always add meal worms to their feed. Would this help?

You can feed them scratch during those times and they will probably live fine---its just not a complete feed. I guess it would be like feeding your kids junk food all the time.

Sure meal worms would help----but you are probably thinking a handful at day when each duck probably would need a few hands full per day each----way more than you probably want to raise.

Its been a while since I figured this---but from memory---the average chicken would need to eat the protein value of around 350/400 crickets per day to get the needed protein to go with plain ground corn, but they do not need to just eat 350 crickets and some corn---they need other things.

Whats your goal---you trying to raise them without buying factory feed??

These are Ducks right?.....
I mix classic scratch that has less corn into my Ducks regular feed all year around...Ducks do great on the added grains...Too Ducks it's not candy....

So you feel that feeding scratch Only(not mixed) is sufficient---maybe a few meal worms----nothing else? That was the OP question?

The Original Poster ask if feeding "Scratch Only" was ok? Sorry thought you might have missed that being you were replying on her post. But we agree----just scratch is not a complete food.

Yes....I agree it's not a balanced diet....The guy I get all my Ducks from never feeds any of his birds a balanced diet...They come here and thrive...He only feeds cheap strait grains...Although he does have 300 Birds....:th
