I am looking into a pygmy goat and I'm wondering about fencing. I have leftover chicken wire from building my coop. I don't plan on having my goat in the coop most of his time, I'm home most of the time and I live on a farm so I was gonna work in training him with free ranging and doing tie outside, under supervision. Since pygmy goats are so small, can I use chicken wire for the fencing? I'm looking for some fencing that's decently cheap, I don't really need a whole lot of it

I wouldn't waste time trying to use chicken wire it's soo flemsy. Check Craigslist farm and garden section and go with no step field fencing if you can. You also might be able to use cattle panels.

Also a single goat will be a lonely goat. They need at least one companion. Good luck! :fl

Goats are pretty tough on fencing. They are constantly standing with their front hooves on the fence. We used welded wire for our dairy goats (they are definitely bigger than pygmies though)
