Hi everyone ☺️
I’m just wondering roughly when guinea fowl start to hatch after movement?
I had a few eggs moving well 2 days ago and a few have been moving for the last 24 hours without any pipping. I can’t hear internal Pips over the incubator noise but I can’t see any cracks.
the ones that were moving two days ago have stopped and the others are really only on and off. I’m just worried they couldn’t get out, the temp and humidity has been really good. We did have to pull the automatic egg roller out when they started moving but we were super quick so I’m hoping this didn’t upset it!
very stressed now 😅
Thank you!

What day are they on? I've hatched them a lot and they are so resilient. I never did anything extra for them. They hatch on day 26-28.

Thank you! I’m on day 28 today with no sign of hatching! There have been movements from a few of the eggs so I’m hoping they’re possibly late or our dates are a little off

Is your thermometer calibrated? Do you have one inside next to the eggs? Your temp was probably a bit low. Guineas take as long as ducks, they're so slow. Don't stress too much over them.

thank you for the reassurance! Haha my temp was sitting somewhere between 37.7-37.9 and I’ve turned it down to 37 (degrees Celsius) for hatching, I may have it a bit low 😅

If everything is going right, keets normally start hatching from days 26 through 28.

You can candle to see if the eggs are internally pipped. If they are internally pipped, it is common for an external pip to occur within 24 hours. Depending on the individual, zipping and hatching can occur shortly after the external pip or be delayed for another 24 hours. External pips that have not progressed after 24 hours can be due to shrink wrapping preventing the keet from being able to maneuver enough to begin zipping.

You have not provided important information such as what day the eggs are currently on. To say that "the temp and humidity has been really good" is meaningless to us. We need to know what the temperature and humidity have been running at.

so my eggs were at about 60% humidity throughout the incubation period and I have upped it to about 80-85 for hatching (I did this a little late on day 25, as this is my first time and I didn’t realise). The incubation temperature was 37.6-37.9 and hatching temp I have lowered to 37 (degrees celcius). The eggs have been moving but I haven’t noticed anything else. I did open the incubator once after some movement on day 26 to take out the automatic egg mover.

That is really high humidity. It should be 35-45% through incubation and 70% at lockdown.
