Can this be given to birds, and if so, what is the dosage?

I'd like to have some to keep on hand, since I'm out of the stuff the vet gave me. I don't want to spend money on it though if it won't work.

Should be fine. Check the ingredients list, if it's only the antibiotic then it's ok.

For single birds - put some on the tip of a teaspoon or a knife, a very tiny amount on the tip, disolve in water, catch the bird and give it with a spoon.

For the entire flock. as a preventative measure or treating an outbrek - 1 gram per 1 litre (0.2 gallons) once a day. Put it in their water. The dosage varies wildly, but I'have been using the 1/1/1 rule all my life without issues

I have a bird limping a bit with a swollen hock, I thought maybe the mox would help with that.

The Penicillin 250mg is given orally twice a day for 5-7 days.
The Amoxicillin 500 is given orally once a day for 5-7 days.
Check the expiration dates on those containers before buying one.
Do you know how I would go about dosing it?
Thanks for your reply! I will.

I've only purchased tablets which can be halved or quartered with a pill cutter. I've never given capsules.
Edited to add: I see that both products are tablets, you're in luck! (The Fish Pen are tablets and the 250mg Fishbiotic also.)

It's easier to use a pill cutter and cut the tablet in half. Then go out to the coop early in the morning when it's dark. Snatch the bird off the roost. Cradle the bird in your forearm and pull the wattles straight down with your finger and thumb on the same hand and the hens mouth will open. With your free hand, put the tablet in the hens mouth and release her wattles. She will then swallow the tablet. Release her and your done. Repeat the procedure after dark.
This way, you know she got properly dosed with the medication, no guesswork about it.

Ok!
I'm thinking for my bird he'll need the amoxicillin, I'll see what I can find out about the capsules.

Thank you so much for all of your help!
