Can you get infected with some kind of flesh eating bacteria from a deep litter bedding in a chicken coop? I was watching an episode from the "Ripley's believe it or not" tv show and a person ended up getting their hands and legs amputated due to flesh eating bacteria. This gave me the creeps.

Was the person in a warm/wet or tropical area?

It’s my understanding that flesh eating bacteria can more easily take hold in a person with a weakened immune system. Or exposure to a particular bacteria when there is already an open wound (so easy to set up shop and cause havoc).

A piece of space junk "can" fall out of the sky and hit your house this evening. You "can" have a fender bender the next time you drive to the grocery. The sun "can" shine tomorrow wherever you happen to be.

Many different things can possibly happen. Some are more likely than others. I'm personally not going to be losing any sleep over the extremely remote possibility of a flesh-eating disease from the deep litter method.
