Hi all, I'm going to be building a large flight pen with a friend of mine to raise ring-necked pheasants. Most of the designs I have found show a pen with a height of 12ft or less. Are there disadvantages to building a taller pen? We were thinking of possibly building as tall as 20ft to promote stronger flying birds. Are we crazy?
Thanks for your help,
Joe

Where did you get your netting from? I have a 40x50 ft. aviary for peafowl with netting over it about 15ft tall and the netting was off of amazon. I have only had the pen for 3 or so years and the netting has been rubbing on the fence, and the posts so I am always repairing it. Also, when we first put it up lots of wild birds would fly into it and so we would have to cut them out leaving holes in the netting too that we would need to repair. We had to put buckets ontop of the posts to keep it from rubbing on the netting causing it to rip. How long has your netting been up? How do you have it attached to the fencing? What are all the dimensions of that pen? I am just getting ideas for pens because I need to make some more and I want to make some ones that will last longer and look nicer. Here is a pic of mine...

Netting I got from 3T products.I have had this pen up for about 5-6 years now, I used the pvc coated 1" wire for the sides and the heavy knotted 2" for the top.
