Hi Everyone:

I have some beautiful Muscovy duck families needing to be relocated to a warm climate area, Florida would be good. They are really beautiful but I am in a residential area with people who love and those who don't like them being here. Let me know if you have any ideas for preserving these groups. There is always the threat of people killing them or calling in others to do it. I have learned that each of these animals has its own personality and they are fun family animals! It would be great to have some with kids!!

I would love to take them off your hands but here in Florida I would need to apply for a permit with FWC to keep them. I'd rather just keep Pekins like I do without the need for legal permission.
Good luck and I hope you find them a good home!

Hi Farmer Connie: Thanks for your response on Muscovy ducks. I would be glad to help with FWC if that would help.

Hmm, I live in Miami, FL and those ducks are everywhere. There is a new brood of 11 at the end of my street, next to the canal. The county dredged the canal which was beneficial to the ducks as it scared off most of the peacock bass and other water borne predators. Normally they have a high mortality rate due to the fish and turtles and what ever lies in those canals. I see them as local wildlife and not so much domesticated animals....just like the iguanas that are running around and the geckos, and basilisk lizards (they are cool, running on two legs). I could never own a Muscovy, as to me, that would be like owning a blue jay or cardinal (if living in Virginia, or somewhere up north). It is weird that they are everywhere...oh, so are the peacocks, especially at the old zoo, they are everywhere. My boss had a peacock that lived on their block and spent a lot of time in her back yard....so strange down here.
