Hello, my 5 month rooster recently got a flu. He has a runny nose and makes noise while breathing. I can't go out to buy him something to cure it. Is there anything I can do to help him? If I give him garlic will that help?

Hi @Chick_Jimin I'm sorry that your cockerel is not well.

Where are you located in the world?
There are several respiratory diseases that chickens can have. Some are bacterial while others are viral.

Sometimes antibiotics may be needed to treat symptoms, but if you don't have access, then using natural/herbal remedies would be worth a try for sure.
Unfortunately, I am not well versed on using herbs/plants to treat illness, so hopefully you can find helpful information in the following links. @Hen Pen Jem may also be able to share some of her great knowledge.

Do look inside your cockerel's beak to see if there's mucous or lesions that may indicate something like Canker. Tell us a bit more about his symptoms - is he also having watery/bubbly eyes, facial swelling, wheezing, coughing. Is he able to eat/drink?
Any other symptoms you can tell us about along with any photos you wish to share would be appreciated.

I checked my my cockreles beak there was nothing wrong. He is eating well. He does have facial swelling and is sneezing.

If there's a foul odor, it's Coryza. Otherwise it could be Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG).
Either disease will spread to other birds and both diseases cause birds to be carriers for life if they survive. I recommend that you cull him.

hmmm...I didn't even notice that, if that's the case, then he didn't do a very good job of it🤣
Just ignore it.

How is your cockerel doing? Is he improving at all? Do you have some photos?
I don't have photos of him right now. He still has a runny nose he seems fine. His face isn't swollen anymore. I think he is improving. :thumbsup
