She can just trim or pluck the feathers!
As a chicken helicopter parent it can be a nervewrackimng challenge trimming fuzz around Silkie eyes. That's why we were so glad old Violet showed each successive generation of Silkies how to trim each other's eyebrows.

Hope she is doing better today. Did you get a cool down there?

We have had a huge cool down. Yesterday it was 31C today 19c, at the moment it is 16C (61f). The forecast low is 8C tonight, this weather is crazy.

Mind you the chooks and horses are much happier. But I had to shut the one window in the Hen House A, the wind was howling through it.

The next few days look cooler so the animals will be more comfortable. The extremes this year are very worrying, I have never seen such extremes ever here.
Our July weather is always quirky here ~ cloudy days, humidity, rain, heatwaves... changes day-to-day... & then the solid heatwave weeks follow thru Autumn. Must have something to do w/ the earth tilt during hemisphere season changes.

I pluck the feathers around the eyes and trim their head poofs.

I need to trim poofs and butts tomorrow.

I figured... she's one of my favorites too. Some storybook sample pics for my Sunday kids... they loved the Disney-esque drawings... I always put animals in the pics but couldn't figure how to incorporate chickens in a palace😄

Tx ~ Ginny sunning at the door. She's calmed down & the flock looks peaceful w/ her finally.. but since she dragged Suzu by the neck feathers, just in case Ginny goes nuts again, Suzu keeps her distance...

Those are wonderful drawings very well done

Flipped a couple of pavers and discovered those flying ants I mentioned a couple of days ago.

the light red aren't winged and they won't eat them. The dark ones have wings and Daisy, Blurr, Rose, and Hector snapped them up (well, Hector had a few, then let the ladies enjoy them)
