The first days left everyone subdued from last week's sad news. Thoughts were expressed again for SimpleJenn, By Bob and Mrs By Bob.

@BY Bob has a new avatar, created by @LozzyR ! A tribute to Phyllis.

Nipple waterer are an effective way to keep wilds birds out of the chicken's water. Many examples:

I have to say I admire you. Your courage to start over again from scratch. If I were in your place right now I do not think I could do it. At least not right away. I wish you loads of success this time around. No more heartache, you have suffered enough for everyone.

Some of you may remember I was experimenting with creating a living gazebo for the chickens by lashing saplings together.
Their leaves are turning red so it is looking rather pretty right now.
I am still optimistic it will work out. But today the Princesses are busy elsewhere.

Thank you. I feel chickens are worth the heartbreak, at least trying again after it. The eggs and meat, plus the fun and companionship are great.
That said, if I had any way of making it so I just had my chickens back, I would do it. I miss Samara broody snuggles, Shep biting my butt, Bab and Ash nosing into everything. 💔

Molting In November

Last week it was 17F in the early mornings. Anna /Annie sets herself apart (she's on the left) a lot when she rests I think because of her molt. So I set up another panel for her there.

Annie and Tedi, hopefully not too triggering for @RoyalChick
View attachment 3989840

The whole gang stopping to preen by the warmers. All the Spuds (Buff Orpingtons) are in their first heavy molt, and Hazel (brown Buckeye) is molting too, but slowly. The roost has been looking like a pillow fight occured in the night
View attachment 3989841

A warmer day a couple days ago, it was Friday so I tried to get butt shots but you really don't want to see that, it's mostly just pins!
View attachment 3989845

I've decided the Spuds should be called The Merengues, or Toasted Marshmallows for now, until they finish their molts. Or The Creme Brulees...
The cold wind whips through this alley, looking directly North, quick, get across!

@ChicoryBlue can you remind me which warmers you are using?
