Do those suckers sting or bite? Self defense reaction is to bite as they're eatenFlipped a couple of pavers and discovered those flying ants I mentioned a couple of days ago.View attachment 4177908the light red aren't winged and they won't eat them. The dark ones have wings and Daisy, Blurr, Rose, and Hector snapped them up (well, Hector had a few, then let the ladies enjoy them)View attachment 4177929View attachment 4177928Blurr and Hector

Not that I can tell. The chickens go for them when they rise every time they find them. They leave all of the not winged ants alone.Do those suckers sting or bite? Self defense reaction is to bite as they're eaten?
Actually, I found out that poor Dakota isn’t feeling well. Maybe too much wild water. Maybe she ate something that isn’t agreeing with her. She’s in the coop tonight, because I don’t want to keep mopping up her mess.Full on Bok Bok Bok from Dakota today. She was disturbed, because I left the chickens room to go get her some steak. She wanted me to stay right with her, and not step out for even a moment. But she’s still a no touch hen.![]()

Then it’s settled. Rooster CogburnThat's was my roosters name when I was growing up. I love it.
That’s true. But my two, don’t have similar feelings for each other.Should be Mordecai... goes w/ EstherIt was a partnership, those two.
New Hampshire Red is possible.Ranger hen? She looks so much like a New Hampshire Red or a Rhode Island too.
Your illustrations are beautiful! I love the story of Esther!I figured... she's one of my favorites too. Some storybook sample pics for my Sunday kids... they loved the Disney-esque drawings... I always put animals in the pics but couldn't figure how to incorporate chickens in a palace

Tx ~ Ginny sunning at the door. She's calmed down & the flock looks peaceful w/ her finally.. but since she dragged Suzu by the neck feathers, just in case Ginny goes nuts again, Suzu keeps her distance...
