Aloha! Moving from Hawai’i to the Mainland and trying to bring my silkie with me. Does anyone have experience/suggestions for traveling with a chicken by plane? Most airlines prohibit non-household birds (farm poultry) but she is an indoor chicken for the most part. Please help!

If you're going to be traveling by air and can't find an airline that will take her, perhaps you could try contacting any boats making the journey and see if they could ship her over? Or maybe you could take a boat yourself?

I would try contacting a site like My Pet Chicken (MPC) and seeing if anyone can help you. Normally they answer questions about shipping chickens to people, but hatcheries/hatchery outlets would know more about the specific laws you'd need to know and exactly how to do it.

USPS also ships live birds... but man that seems so scary.

Welcome to BYC, and I hope you find a solution.
