We are building a 12 x 8 coop insde our pole barn that had horses in it years ago.

Will yes be an interior box with exterior door inside the bay for access, but with plenty of ventilation. Open hatches in the ceiling to open and close as we need to. He will install a mechanical vent out the back wall as well way above roosts.

Deep litter bedding on floor, poop trays with PDZ to start.

Attached run is done its 24 x 10 will be wrapped in 6 mil poly leaving gap at top for vent.

Will they lay thru the winter if we don't insulate the walls or roof?

Is there an ideal temp they prefer for laying? Heaters scare the crap out of me to have out there. We have timer for the light.

He was prepped to insulate the floor I said hold on not sure we need to. But we do want them to lay.

The other interior room we have inside this barn is insulated on all 4 sides it does not heat up in summer but stays very cool.

I have read thru the threads and see most of you don't insulate at all. I get they will stay plenty warm if we do not insulate. How does that affect your laying?

TIA
