Hi, all! Was at my local pet supplies store (PetCo or PetSmart, I forget, always get them mixed up!), and saw one of the employees putting new fishies in some tanks. They come in plastic bags of water, which are set down into a REALLY NICE styrofoam box with lid, and then put into a cardboard box. I would guess that this is pretty standard packing for aquarium fish being shipped in bulk..

Anyway asked the nice employee if I could buy or have a few, she said no problem, take what you want, they throw them away anyway (!!), betcha this is pretty standard, too! (I asked & she said they never reuse them and doesn't think that anyone really does).

The styrofoam boxes that they had were pretty much the EXACT same size as my LG still air, not real tall like some of the ones you can buy (which was a bonus to me, less space I have to heat).

Soooooo.... just thought I would let everyone know that it might be worth checking with you local Pet Supplies store (or local Aquarium supplies?).

I work for a vet clinic and we receive our vaccines in really nice styrofoam boxes with lids. We usually throw them out, so you might try asking your veterinarian to save them for you. Much better than letting them go to waste!

I saw some really nice ones at the pediatricians office...looked like they got vaccines in them.

You can get them from labs too, like research labs. Of course though, you'd have to pry the boxes out of their hands since they like to reused them as ice buckets. LOL At least in academia.
