Okay, I'm fixing to start on my first coop, and have decided to build a open floor pole barn style coop. The question is when framing in for a window, how do you tie the top, middle, and bottom bands going horizontal to the 2x4s going vertical for the sides of the window frame? If you were using a 4x4 post for a corner and your band was nailed to the 4x4 using the 3 1/2 side of the 2x4. Than what would be the best way to fasten the 2x4 going vertical to the window -to the 2x4 going horizontal. My only guess is to notch the vertical 2x4 to fit flush against the finished face. Is there another way, that would work better? I hope that isn't too confusing of a description. Thanks if you can figure out what i'm talking about.

Maybe this will help. There are a few different ways to do it and a lot depends on the type of window. You might want to pick up a good pole building book... "Low Cost Pole Building Construction by Ralph Wolfe" is a good one. Anyhow, a picture's worth a thousand words.
