One of my new babies has fuzzy downy legs.. is that normal? Is it a breed thing? The other two are more feathered out than she is, but don't have the leg fuzz..

One of the others, for comparison:

That just looks like a "feather-footed" chick to me. There are a few breeds that are FF, cochins, langshans, brahmas. There may be others, but those are three kinds. This normal for them. These chickens can have trouble in muddier environments, the mud cakes onto the feet feathers. Do u know what breeds u have?

I have nooo idea. They were hatched in a school classroom, and my husband brought them home. I've been trying to figure it out, but it's been difficult. I think two of them are *maybe* buff orpingtons / crosses? I really just can't tell.

This is Nugget - Frita looks a LOT like her, only a bit darker.

Frita is the darkest one, on the right. Nugget on the left, Waffles (who has the feathered legs) is in the middle.

And here is waffles, but you can't see the feathered legs. I think she looks like a marshmallow peep. :)

Whem kids were small my stepmom gave them little fake chicks at Easter that peeped when you put them in your hand and completed the circuit of the battery. I was AMAZED that my chicks made that exact sound when I got them! I couldn't believe the toy got it so right :) And yes, waffles does look like a Peep! (Just don't eat her) --Carrie
