Getting Diseases from ducks

What duck-borne zoonotic disease causes blindness? I know about salmonella, e. coli, and psittacosis. And some flus. Most of those cause intestinal chaos or respiratory symptoms. Which causes blindness?

But, yeah - what @sourland says. If it were a major problem, a lot of BYCers would be in trouble! (We're not, however, because of husbandry and biosecurity practices).

Considering a LOT of people kiss their ducks, there would be a lot of dead people if anything was very contagious. I have to handle all 50 of my ducks twice daily to put them outside in movable pens from the barn, and to put them back inside. I wash my hands up to my elbows when I come in from the barn with antibacterial soap. This is mostly habit because I was a surgeon. Things like Salmonella usually only affect the very young, old, or those with compromised immune systems. If you are truly worried, scrub your hands with a surgical scrub brush ( see: https://www.amazon.com/ZIZNBA-Steri...7805891&sprefix=surgical+scrub,aps,111&sr=8-2 ), up to your elbows for 5 minutes when you come in. Use Hibiclens or the generic Chlorhexidine Gluconate. Hibiclens kills all bacteria, viruses, fungus, and yeast for a full 24 hours after you scrub with it.
