I read in my waterfowl book that geese do not get intestinal worms like chickens do, but that they get Gizzard Worms, which can be harmful. Is this true? How can I prevent worms in my goslings?

Geese are quite tough, not prone to a lot of diseases and things that chicken tend to get. But gizzard worm can kill them, so it´s good be on top of it. It depends on your land. If it´s clean, not had many birds on it before, then chances are you don´t have a huge risk yet of them getting too many problems. An area that´s quite bird-intensive will be more likely to foster worm problems. I worm mine twice a year, as my ducks go out of my property and may well pick up worms from the other birds about, so they all get done here.
Also, a lot of us put apple Cider Vinegar in their water, as it apparently creates an unfriendly environment inside the birds for the worms, so can help to keep numbers down.

Thanks, guys! My geese are kept where there are no other waterfowl and I have only had chickens before, so it probably wont be a problem. I will give them apple cider vinegar and ask some locals if its a problem.
