I am looking to add another hen or two to my small flock. I am looking for Gold Lace Wyandotte's. I am having a heck of a time finding them. What's making it hard is I'm trying to find them started, around 8-10 weeks so I can get them situated and introduce them to my other hens before the spring. If anyone has any or knows where to get them I would appreciate the help. I am not looking for show birds or the price of them by any means but I would like to see the beginning of the color/pattern which is why I'm looking for started hens (also I don't want to end up with a ROO, which would get me into trouble in my area). any help would be great guys!!!

I have checked craigslist. I have a friend who got burned buying to blue lace chicks off a guy who said they were purebred and they turned out not to be that. I am a little hesitant about going onto craigslist for that reason. Why are they so hard to find? is it considered a more rare breed? Or exotic?

You are probably right Alaskan, but id like to have them about the same size as my other hens about spring time so I can enjoy them. ;)

How is it raising chickens where you are at? deal with a lot of frostbite/predators?

OK, I love puzzles....

I looked around, I think you would have the best chance of success if you go to the Wyandotte Breed page, and look for whatever officer is in charge of your region and email him.

He should know all good small breeders in your area, and be able to tell you who to contact.

Good luck!

yep, lots of frostbite (I don't get that cold, but I have high humidity since I live on the coast).

As to predators, my main problems are neighborhood dogs, every single raptor every created to fly over this earth, and very rarely bears. There are lots of weasel family predators around here...but they still haven't found my coop.

I have a lot of owls, hawks and coyotes by me. I see them all the time outside my yard, but never EVER inside my yard. I'm wondering if that's because we have a big dog and they have seen/smelled him? either way no deaths yet and I'm approaching a year with my hens.
