** WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTO **

Hey yall, my BIL has what I believe is a female Chinese goose who got pretty messed up by what I think was a gander.

There are 3 ganders for the 1 female

(Not my geese they’re his don’t come at me)

Her beak took a pretty bad hit in what I’d assume was just a very bad attempt to mate or maybe she got caught in the fighting.

At the beginning she would not eat/drink/honk but now she is slowly doing all 3. I have heard sometimes geese can grow back their beaks after an injury, if anyone has experience with this please let me know if that might be the case here or if it’s a veterinarian visit only situation. We have since cleaned the wound with hydrogen peroxide, given her pedialyte, hydration packets in the water and a free access supply of food and water.

I don’t have experience with geese, just chickens. I would also post on the geese thread here:

Beak injuries are always very painful for a few days. Making sure they are taking water and softened food is important. Sometimes cracked or broken beaks can be repaired with an empty tea bag and super glue. If possible see a vet. Separate her with food and water in a dog crate. Let us know how she gets along. Good luck.
