My 3 year old Embden goose has been very picky about her food for the past 2 weeks or so. She'll eat the food, but not as happily as she usually does. I give her a combination of grass, dandelion greens, crushed corn, whole corn, and she has constant access to fresh water.
About 2 hours ago, I noticed that she had no water left in her bowl that I had filled about 2 or 3 hour prior. It usually takes her at least a day to finish the water. I refilled her water and sat with her for a few minutes, in which time she drank as if she hadn't had water for days. After gulping in the air a few times, she violently stretched her neck out and shook her head as water flew out of her mouth.
She repeated this process a few times still refusing to eat anything. I've taken her inside to swim in our bath to try to get the muscles moving. She had an impacted crop when she was a few months old, but I don't know if it's the same thing. She's shaking and "cleaning" her beak often by shaking it in the water and blowing air through her nose. She's still flapping/stretching out her wings and cleaning herself and me. It's nighttime here so I'm not sure if she's lethargic or just sleepy.
I've even tried to feed her her favourite treats like grapes and crackers, but she won't eat.
I don't have any vets that'll look at a goose let a lone a 24 hour vet. The vomiting has stopped for a bit, but she's also slowed down how much she's drinking.
What should I do?
