Got a sick duck

I have a 6yrs old Rouen who has been sick for a few weeks now. She’s been bouncing back and forth between being real tired and acting fine. Unfortunately, she also has diarrhea and it’s turned her vent into a high powered ass cannon. The frequency of her squirts is irritating her entire backend and causing it to scab up. But it doesnt look like there’s any pus or weird colors, no draining or sticking to her backside either.

All my other ducks are fine. We’re just getting outa winter so they were cooped up for a while, so there wasnt anything weird she coulda eaten.

I’ve been trying to keep her clean and rubbing neosporin knockoffs on her to help the irritation. I put tylan 50 in her water thinking she needed an antibiotic (it’s the only one i have) but there’s been no change, so i switched to the rooster booster electrolyte/probiotic supplement instead.

I’m not sure what to do for her now. Her squirts arent discolored or anything, just very liquidy brown like she’s not digesting her food, but it reeks and shows no signs of firming up. She’s clearly uncomfortable. If anyone has any ideas i’d really appreciate it.

Could she be egg bound? The diarrhea might just be that only liquid is getting through her "pipes". Is she tail pumping at all? Self isolating? Maybe a broken egg inside her?

I’ll let you know what she says. In the meantime, when you give an antibiotic, you wanna make sure you get the dose right , that’s not going to work when you put it in the water.

TYLAN 50 duck dose

So far miss Lydia said ….

I don't think she'd still be alive after a few weeks if egg bound. How long has she been on the Tylan 50 it maybe causing tummy upset . Is she eating? Broken egg possibly but after 2 weeks not sure if that is possible. & Good for you giving it by mouth much better.

And hey, by the way, sorry for making so many posts in a row here, but I was just reading in my ultimate pet duck guidebook by Kimberly link the founder of majestic waterfowl sanctuary, that you can feed her a little baby food organic applesauce to help firm up the poop and also you should be adding 1 tablespoon per gallon of apple cider vinegar ( with the mother ) to her drinking water
